On Behalf of Harworth Estates, North East Industrial and Warehouse property specialists HTA Real Estate have sold the site of the former Butterwell disposal point near Linton, Northumberland.

The Butterwell site had a rail connection into the East Coast Main Line and was formerly operated as a coal processing and disposal point designed for loading coal onto rail for onward transport. The total site area extended to 137 acres, including the rail connection into the branch line at Ashington.

The main body of the site extending to approximately 47ha (116 acres), the majority of which was operated as a surface mine, has been reclaimed. The former disposal point infrastructure had been retained and comprised an access road, three concrete loading pads and a surfaced car park.

Nick Atkinson a Director at HTA Real Estate said "The Butterwell site generated a lot of interest and was eventually sold to a local contractor after going to best bids".
