Sale of warehouse leads to next phase of growth for packaging company

WE WERE DELIGHTED TO SEE ENCORE PACKAGING SOLUTIONS UNVEIL ITS NEW 1.8M PRODUCTION FACILITY IN PETERLEE EARLIER THIS MONTH.

HTA Real Estate sold the 73,000sqft premises to the firm last year on behalf of German flooring company BHK.

BHK, who own and occupy the adjacent 110,000sqft building, were keen to sell the additional premises which had previously been let and were surplus to requirements. The sale enabled them to make a significant investment in improving their retained facility.

Nick Atkinson, director at HTA said: We were delighted to be able to secure a buyer for the unit in a short space of time. Peterlee Business Park is a fantastic location and with the continued shortage of larger industrial space in the region it remains a competitive market. The facility provides the ideal solution for Encore’s expansion needs and it is great to see the firm announcing their next phase of growth.

Encore, which is the largest privately owned printed envelope manufacturer in the UK, acquired the premises as part of a wider growth plan for the company which aims to triple the size of its workforce over the next two years. It has relocated its packaging division from Washington to the new unit on Davy Drive, Peterlee Business Park to facilitate its expansion.

Mike Williamson, financial director of Encore Packaging Solutions said: “With demand increasing for our products, the relocation to our new site in Peterlee from our existing Washington premises will offer us the additional space we need now, while also providing room for further expansion as we secure new contracts.
