NORTH EAST FIRM OF INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY SPECIALISTS HAS ACQUIRED AN 80,000SQFT WAREHOUSE IN WIGAN FOR 2.7M ON BEHALF OF AMERICK PACKAGING. HTA REAL ESTATE SECURED THE DEAL, WHICH IS ITS FIRST OUTSIDE OF THE REGION SINCE THE BUSINESS WAS ESTABLISHED TWO YEARS AGO.
Americk Packaging, which has six manufacturing sites across the UK and Ireland, required larger premises for its flexibles division, Americk ASP Flexibles, following a period of sustained growth. The new facility is over three times the size of the company’s former site in Haydock providing much needed room for the expansion of its manufacturing and logistics operations. It will also house a brand new state-of-the-art laboratory.
Nick Atkinson, director at HTA Real Estate said: Our appointment on this acquisition came about through an existing contact at Americk. Although we are North East-based we were delighted to be able to assist them in identifying suitable properties in the Wigan area.
He continued: Due to the specialist nature of the client’s business we had to adapt our search after a number of properties we had initially identified were no longer suitable. We finally secured an off-market deal on the former Ferplast building at Martland Park, Wigan, which was ideal for Americk’s expanding operations.
Steve Ellis, managing director at Americk Packaging said: HTA proved to be a valuable partner in helping us find the perfect property to provide flexibility and much needed room for growth. The acquisition forms part of a wider 7m investment programme which will strengthen our position as one of the fastest growing packaging suppliers to the fresh produce market in Europe.
